IndieRock Playlist: June 2008

Alright kids. I'm sorry its so late. But I've been busy, and when wasn't busy I was deathly ill.

But enough about me!!!!! How about some new music? Yeah that's what I thought

1. Now this is one I pulled out of the vault! It's an awesome limited release single that was released right around the time that both Spacehog and The Lemonheads broke up. So what else is there for out of work lead singers to do?
Waking Up (w/ Royston Langdon)-- Evan Dando

2. Ok so shoot me. This song has been blowing up the charts. But seriously.... I can't stop playing it.
No Sex For Ben-- The Rapture

3. This is another one of those Norwegian imports. And If you have ever been drunk then this is your song.
I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked-- Ida Maria

4. This group
The Hussy's is a merging of 2 bands actually. UK pop bands The Supernaturals and The Starlets. This song is what I feel like everyday now everyone is home from college.
We Expected-- The Hussy's

5. You have to see this band LIVE to really get a feel for their hardcore fans, stage antics and funny lyrics.
Britney's Tears-- The Steeples

6. The Saps have been on the HOT NEW LIST since 1999. They really didn't get their act together until last year with the release of C'mon Already-Start a FIRE!
Coup De Grace-- The Saps

7. Here is an unreleased tack from my favorite flash-in-the pan indierock band. I'm sad to say they are no longer together. :(
What Your Boyfriend Said-- Little Man Tate

8. I just LOOOOOVVVEEE This song. If you don't own SOME PEOPLE HAVE REAL PROBLEMS, then you must have a real problem.
The Girl You Lost to Cocaine-- Sia

9. So this band has no info. no myspace page. I don't even know how I came across their single. But I like it.
Show Your Hand- Hey Venus

10. Martha is indeed Rufus's sister. And her new album I KNOW YOU'RE MARRIED BUT I'VE GOT FEELINGS TOO is phenomenal. It's a solid album that sounds like that classic Tori Amos
Bleeding All Over You-- Martha Wainwright

11. So Arctic Monkey's Front man is no stranger t0 60's pop. As seen in their 2007 Glasgow performance. So in between the Arctic Monkeys next album he formed a little Shirley Bassey-esque side project.
Calm Like You-- Last Of The Shadow Puppets

12. Garage Band hitmaker. You decide...........
Parties-- Pale Made Man

13. This one-man-band describes his music as "folktronica" I think that's all I should have to say.
Waiting for the Monster to Drown-- Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly

14. So what happens when an outcast teenager and a maverick nerd come together? That's what Scott Heft wanted to know when he recruited ex- tapes n' tapes bassist Shawn Neary and pattern master Nate Perbix. What it birthed was an epic album.
Love Song-- Seymore Saves the World.

15. In contrast to that is a match made in heaven... or Showtime's The L Word, where actress Leisha Hailey first met lo-fi artist Camilla Grey.
Not A Love Song-- Uh Huh Her

16. Straylight Run is another project from members of a band you would NEVER expect upon hearing.
The Miracle That Never Came-- Straylight Run

17. The New HOLD STEADY album is different. But in a good way.
One For the Cutters-- The Hold Steady

18. Can you believe that there is ANOTHER electro-band from Sweden? I KNOW who would have thought?! But in all seriousness they rock my face
Hot Lips-- Pacific!

19. This band describes themselves as a "solar-powered space pop combo" I really don't think that you can go wrong there!
Elevate Myself-- Grandaddy

20. Another INFECTIOUS single from everybody's favorite pop-rock quartet. I Dare you not to sing along.
Eskimo Ride-- IMA Robot

21. So My favorite Chicago Indies.... you really should get Goodbye Blues.
The Boys are Too Refined-- The Hush Sound

22. Drug Rug: slang; Colorful poncho purchased at the Mexican border. See Also Infectious, Folkey band from Massachusetts.
The Day I Die-- Drug Rug
